Wheel Nuts - Clarification of Torque Specification



This Technical Bullentin contains data which supersedes information previously published in some Owner Literature.



Issue:



Some Owner's literature contains an incorrect torque specification for the wheel nuts.



Action:



1. When checking the torque of road wheel nuts on all S-TYPE vehicles, ensure that the nuts are tightened to:



128 + 10 Nm (94 + 7.5 lb.ft.)



2. If removing and refitting roadwheels, observe the detail in Technical Bulletin S 204-01 (Corrosion Prevention - Wheels & Hubs - Grease



Contact Surfaces) prior to refitting. Tighten the road wheel nuts in the order shown in Illustration 1.



Torque the nuts to:



128 + 10 Nm (94 + 7.5 lb.ft.)



The nut and stud threads must be in good condition, clean, dry and ungreased.
