JTIS 8 - Electrical Guides & DTC Summaries - New Features

Action:
Make sure JTIS8 is installed. Access the additional information from JTIS by following the instructions contained within this bulletin.
Electrical Guides and Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Summaries are now accessible from JTIS. (DTC Summaries provide a convenient way of
quickly finding information associated with a specific DTC; refer to page 4 of this bulletin).

The electronic versions of the publications are not intended to replace the hard copies distributed by the normal channels.
ADOBE ACROBAT READER
(Adobe Acrobat is a registered trademark of Adobe Systems Incorporated).
Acrobat Reader is viewing software for the electronic publications and functions independently from JTIS.
Navigation through documents can be achieved using the toolbar:
Position the mouse pointer over a button to reveal the function the button performs. Some toolbar features are available by right-clicking the mouse.
TIP: Position the Hand-tool within the document area and right-click the mouse. Choose Back to go to the previous view. The Find facility, when
activated, allows the user to search for text anywhere within the document. The next occurrence of the same text can be located by pressing
simultaneously Ctrl and G on the keyboard. TIP: Use the Find facility as an aid to diagnosis by searching for specific DTCs and then following the
guidance provided.
The Zoom facility is useful for viewing all documents. TIP: Select the Zoom tool then hold the left mouse button down and drag the dotted line
around the area to be magnified. Holding the Ctrl key toggles the Zoom facility and reverses the magnification.
Further assistance, if required, is available from an Online Guide, accessible by selecting the Help button on the Acrobat Reader menu.
ELECTRICAL GUIDES
To access the Electrical Guides from JTIS, click on the launch button:

The Select Electrical Guide dialogue box shown appears:
Click on a model year.
Click on a vehicle.
Click on the OK button.
Adobe Acrobat Reader is immediately initialized in a separate window and does NOT affect the functionality of JTIS. Toggle between the JTIS
window and the Acrobat window in the normal manner, or resize them for simultaneous viewing.
The Electrical Guides are stand-alone publications that include full User Instructions.
The JTIS version of the guides have improved usability compared with the paper copies, in the form of page hyper-links. Clicking on the Fig.
Numbers to be found at the top right-hand side of the circuit diagrams, opens the associated data page. Navigation back from the data page to the
circuit diagram can be achieved in a similar manner.

Note:
S-TYPE electrical schematics are located in the 1999 S-TYPE option.
If you wish to print the electrical schematics:
- Select from the Acrobat Reader toolbar:
^ File
^ Print
In the print option window:
^ Select page(s)
^ Print quality - High
^ Shrink to print
Then click OK.
The output will be the schematic formatted to fit on 8.5 x 11 paper.
DTC SUMMARIES
To access the DTC Summaries from JTIS, click on the launch button:

The DTC Summary is a stand-alone publication intended to be used in conjunction with PDU and the Electrical Guides. The JTIS version of the
DTC Summaries have improved usability compared with the paper copies, in the form of page hyper-links. Select the vehicle range by clicking on
the appropriate button:
A page containing the following table will appear:

Information about the extracted DTC can be located in the appropriate summary by working through the table:
^ The letter preceding the DTC indicates the vehicle System(s) to which the code relates.
^ Open the Summaiy applicable by clicking over the text that describes the vehicle under diagnosis.
^ Use the Acrobat FIND facility to search for occurrences of the required code.
Note:
More than one summary may need to checked; for example, where a 'P' code has been extracted, the code may not appear under the first
summary that is checked. The code will only be found under one system so check each system summary until the code is located.
INSTALLING ACROBAT READER
Check the START menu, programs to verify if the PC has ADOBE Acrobat Reader installed. If not, the program must be loaded using the following
instructions:
^ Click on Start
^ Click on Run
^ Click on the down arrow to open up menu options
^ Click on E:\Setup.exe
^ Click on Browse
^ Click and highlight Readergb, then open
^ Click and highlight Win, then open
^ Click and highlight Reader, then open
^ Click and highlight Bit32, then open
^ Double click on Setup.exe
The run window will display the following complete path:
E:\Readergb\Win\Reader\32Bit\Setup.exe
Enter OK. The program will now load. Continue to follow the highlighted prompts. If there was an operator error in loading the ADOBE Acrobat
Reader software, the following message will appear when trying to view electrical schematics or DTC summaries:
