Rear Suspension Toe Links (Tie Rod Assemblies) - Larger Mounting Stud - Modification Procedure

Issue:

Beginning with VIN L06641,the inner mounting of the rear suspension toe links (tie rod assemblies) changed from 10 mm to 12 mm mounting stud

diameter. Toe links of early design are no longer available. If a replacement toe link is required, it is necessary to modify the rear cross member to

accept the later design of toe link. This modification must be performed on both sides of the vehicle and both toe links replaced with the later design,

even if the original need was only to replace one toe link.

Action:

If it is necessary to replace a rear toe link on a 2000 MY S-TYPE vehicle within the above VIN range, open out the inner mounting point in the rear

cross-member to 12.2 mm, to accept the mounting stud of the later design toe link. Toe links must be of the same design on both sides of the vehicle.

Both sides of the cross-member must therefore be modified and both toe links initially replaced.

1. After removing the toe link (Illustration 1), enlarge the existing 10 mm mounting hole to 12.2 mm diameter.

Depending on availability, use a 15/32" drill, rotary file or hand reamer to enlarge the hole, ensuring that the finished diameter remains

concentric with the existing hole.

Ensure that the specified 12.2 mm diameter is not exceeded.

2. Where necessary, use a hand file to clean up any drill swarf around the enlarged mounting hole.

3. Apply zinc-rich paint (depending on local availability) to protect the bare metal created by the drilling and filing operations.

4. Install the replacement toe link. Torque the inner stud mounting to 90 Nm (66 lb. ft.) Torque the hub carrier mounting to 100 Nm (14 lb. ft.)

5. Repeat the above on the opposite side of the vehicle.

6. Carry out rear suspension toe-in alignment. The data is in JTIS, Section 204-00, Specifications. Perform this operation before final tightening

of the toe link to the hub carrier.

20 Luxury Cars & SUVs To Watch out For

The hairpin-set off throttle tip takes a while to get dialed in on; chances are you'll find yourself stabbing out too much velocity on short straightaways as the exhaust breathes fire into your heart. Likely, the organization will get ready for its constructed up in San Antonio. Traffic on the 401/403/410/QEW/Gardiner/in every single place within the GTA (except for a few minutes between 3:Forty eight am and 3:51am on the 403) will keep you relaxed and only require one limb to shuffle by way of molasses-like freeway traffic. And even with blind-spot warning lights and cautious driving, I nearly lower a couple of folks off in traffic that I simply didn't see. So I guess you’re crazy not to wait one other few months to buy this Jag. Some hotshot in one other SVR evaluate wrote about “tricking” the car’s laptop-controlled diff into behaving like a rear-driver by minimizing steering inputs, which I assume would have the automotive putting much less energy to its entrance axle. Even without engaging “Dynamic Mode,” the car is so stiff that LA highways feel like tidal waves you’re just barely bounding over on a boogie board.

120,000 to drop on a set of wheels has more left over to spend on a commuter anyway. Within the stiffer, most responsive “Dynamic Mode,” the transmission in “Sport” and with the car’s traction management left on you get a righteously invigorating ride along with a safety internet that offers you a license to be brave. Crackling, keening and backfiring, the sound reverberates off the spotlit Ikea to our right, and the spookily abandoned, almost century-old grain terminal to our left. The exhaust is the predominant sound and some testers thought it too loud and unrefined. The titanium exhaust burns to a beautiful oil slick hue and, as you’ve heard already, it sounds just like the unfettered roar of a wild lion. The Jaguar’s supercharged V-eight soundtrack, boosted by way of a console change that opens the exhaust flaps, is assured to make driver and passenger giggle like schoolgirls. Reaching farther again in Jaguar’s past, the racing D-Type’ sseparation of the driver’s cockpit from the passenger areais instructed by a substantial middle console edged on the proper by a outstanding grab handle.

“The F-Type exterior maintains Jaguar’s personal elegance in its horizontal proportion and rounded surfaces, but it appears very dynamic. The packages were designed by JLR’s Special Vehicle Operations division - beneath the watchful eye, we’re advised, of Jaguar’s legendary chief designer Ian Callum. Not too long ago, Ferrari revealed to the world, the quite flamboyant trying F12 TRS- a one-off created for a special buyer. The Audi A7 is one the most stunning looking sedans from the model. This may increasingly irk purists looking for uncorrupted steering feel, but Jaguar insists the system presents far higher tuning potential, with new management algorithms dialling out any type of synthetic really feel. Unique SVR tuning extends to the transmission, steering, and the torque-vectoring-by-brake, dynamic stability control, and all-wheel-drive methods. Quattro all-wheel-drive will presumably come customary, as will a seven-velocity twin-clutch transmission. He said that the adjustments in the future XJ can be quite a bit bigger than that.

All that power makes a complete lot of noise. It bums me out to think about these cars being bought primarily by assholes who just wish to make a whole lot of noise, though the cynical aspect of me type of fears that’s inevitable. “It by no means will get old.” That’s what The Drive’s Ben Preston says as the 575-horsepower Jaguar F-Type SVR Convertible shrieks down a nighttime Brooklyn pier in our Red Hook neighborhood. If you’re extremely rich, desire a car that’s consistently exciting to drive and have a penchant for flamboyance, an F-Type SVR is the move. The “center” marker stitching at the top of the steering wheel in my take a look at car appeared each-so-slightly askew and it drove me insane as soon as I seen it. If you’ve bought the money, the garage house, and-this is vital-the persistence and the right driving experience, you may want to take Godzilla for a check drive.
