How many, and which ones, of these parts can be replaced and still have it be considered ' The Original Motor' ? Most folks would agree that it would pretty much have to still have the original block. After that, the line gets a bit blurry. It wouldn't necessarily have to still have the original distributor or carburetor, but it probably should have the original heads, and possibly the original intake. All of these parts have casting numbers and date codes on them. The engine blocks used in 65/66 Mustangs (also the 64 1/2s, which are titled as 65s) were actually very few. You had two different 6 cyl motors, the U code 170 C.I.D. T code 200 C.I.D. You also had the F code 260 C.I.D. V8 along with the D, C, A, and K code motors which were various configurations of the 289 C.I.D. 5 bolt K codes will have a casting number of C4OE-6015-C, or -F.

There was also a 5 bolt K code block with the casting number of C3OE-6015-B, but that was not originally used in Mustangs. Also, if the motor has a 3 or 4 digit number stamped on a pad on the block over by where the clutch Z-bar is attached to the block, that motor came out of a Fairlane. The K code motors that left the factory with a 65/66 Mustang wrapped around them had the vin stamped on the block on the passenger side, right above the top of the oil pan, towards the front. Sometimes it is stamped so poorly that it is very difficult to see, let alone read, but it is there. Right above the casting number will be a date code. How to interpret that is explained in the section I called, that's right, 'Date Codes'. The date code on the motor should be consistent with the scheduled production date of the car. This one is very simple. If you pull the valve covers off, you will see on the top surface of the head either the number 260, 289 or 302. The 65/66 Mustangs did NOT come with 302 heads.

Ford did not start building 302s until the 68 model year, so, if the heads on your car have the number 302 cast into them, they are definitely not the original heads for your car. There will also be date code on the top of the head. Again, the date code on the head should be a little bit prior to the scheduled build date of the car. The K code heads were different from the others. They had screw-in rocker studs, instead of the press-in studs the other 289 heads had. They also had little pockets that the valve springs sat down into to keep them from scooting around on you at high rpms. They will also have either the number 19, 20, or 21 cast into the front outboard corner of the driver's side head and the rear outboard corner of the passenger's side head. The head shown in the pictures is a K code head. The intake manifold will have a casting number on it right in front of the carburetor. The 2bbl intake will have the casting number that starts out with C4, C5, or C6, then either an O or an A, followed by an E, which is followed by 9424, then dash something. There is a date code at like 2 O' Clock from the distributor, which, again, should be consistent with the production date of your car. There were a whole bunch of different casting numbers for 2bbl intakes, so who could really say which is which. As long as the date code matches up, that might be the original intake.

2019 Ford Mustang Mach-E

2019 Ford Mustang Mach-E

At Kings Ford, we're proud of the countless reasons why we stand head and shoulders above other Ford dealerships. Setting aside that healthy sense of competition, we also take great pride in representing Cincinnati within the larger Ford community and acknowledging what binds us together. In 2019, a great example of that comes as a result of Ford's EV initiatives and the excitement that surrounds them. Case in point: Ford's promise of a 'Mustang-inspired' all-electric SUV, the rumors of which have been circulating for the better part of a year. Simply put, it's been quite the conversation starter - be it right here on the dealer floor or via the countless articles found within various industry publications. And why wouldn't it be? Sure, the ever-increasing frequency of EV introductions is becoming a staple of current auto news, and the consumer shift toward crossover and SUV offerings has become more commonplace over time. However, it's the inclusion of the phrase "Mustang-inspired" that has sparked the most speculation, with many wondering what it even means? After all, how does one pair the utilitarian appeal of an SUV with the sporty philosophy that inspired the Mustang?

This confusion, of course, was furthered by rumors that it would bear the infamous Mach-E moniker. For the most of the year, Ford has remained tight-lipped, shedding next to no light on the project, what it would look like, what sort of performance specs it would deliver, or when we could look forward to a reveal. While heavily rumored to be the case, Ford has now confirmed that their game-changing offering will bear the Mach-E name. In terms of appearance and design, we have little more to go on than the teaser image that has been released. Conveying little more than the highlighted outlines of the hood and roofline, with discernible contours serving as the placeholder for head and tail lights along with the window, the tease is far from revealing. But it does communicate a sleek, aerodynamic feel - and the arrow-like elements used to represent the lights create an almost instant state of motion. It may not be much for those in search of spoilers, but it certainly does wet the palate. What we do know is that the vehicle will play an important role in defining the early stages of Ford's EV strategy. Boasting an EPA-estimated range of "at least 300 miles," it's been shared that the Mach-E will be fast-charging, able to gain as much as 47 miles of additional range with as little as a 10-minute charge. Even more interesting is the indication that buyers can expect to receive two years' worth of free charging via Ford's ever-expanding EV charger network. 500 deposit. Are You Interested in the Mach-E?

As the performance war continued, the Mustang's platform and engine bay were progressively redesigned to accommodate larger engine blocks. Late in the 1968 model year, Ford introduced the 428 cu in (7.0 L) Cobra Jet FE engine in a small group of Mustang GTs and into the 1968 Shelby GT500KR. This was a strong performer and indicated the direction of the 1969 Mustang. However, "GT" wasn't a name that would initiate images of street screeching performance; hence the introduction of the Mach 1 title. 1969 was the benchmark year for Ford Mustang in its proliferation of performance names and engines. Many resto-mod visual conversions have since been performed by owners and enthusiasts, but are not Mach 1's by VIN code. Standard equipment was a 351 cu in (5.8 L) Windsor (351W) 2V motor with a 3 speed manual transmission, and a 9-inch (23 cm) 28 spline open rear axle. Mach 1s came with upgraded suspension to varying degrees dependent upon powertrain choices. Big block cars had front shock tower reinforcement, thicker sway bars (no rear bar for 69), and heavier springs and shocks. 428 CJ/SCJ 4 speed cars also came with staggered rear shocks. Standard on Mach 1s was a fierce but cosmetic hood scoop that had integrated turn-signal lights mounted in the back. In 1969 endurance driver Mickey Thompson took three Mach 1 Mustangs to the Bonneville salt flats for a feature in Hot Rod magazine, in the process setting 295 speed and endurance records over a series of 500-mile and 24-hour courses. 73 mach 1 Q code Really?

Ford (F) took its time. But for its first electric vehicle, the 116-year old automaker did something a little controversial. The Mustang Mach-E is an all-new, fully-electric crossover that Ford says is part of the 鈥淢ustang family.鈥?That means it has some styling cues from the famous pony car, but that鈥檚 about it. It鈥檚 not a coupe, convertible, or special edition Mustang like the Bullitt edition. For the Mach-E with the extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive targeted, Ford is targeting an EPA-estimated range of at least 300 miles. In extended-range all-wheel-drive configurations, the Mach-E will pump out 332 horsepower and 417 lb.-ft. But that鈥檚 not all. Ford will also offer two special performance versions - a GT version (see what Ford did there) and a GT Performance Edition. Both GT models will boost output to 459 horsepower and a very healthy 612 lb.-ft. Ford says the GT Performance Edition will likely have a 0-60 mph time in the mid-3-second range, while the standard GT will do the sprint in under 4 seconds. 52,400 respectively. You check the Mustang Mach-E website for all the configurations and pricing. 48,000, with an estimated range of 300 miles and a 0 to 60 mph time of 5.5 seconds. 61,000 and have a range as well of 280 miles, but a 3.5 second 0-60 mph time. Note these are all estimates from Tesla. For Ford, its first stab at an all-electric vehicle being a Mustang means the company wants to focus on performance first - not necessarily efficiency. 鈥淭he Mustang Mach-E wholeheartedly rejects the notion that electric vehicles are only good at reducing gas consumption,鈥?said Hau Thai-Tang, Ford鈥檚 chief product development and purchasing officer. 2019 Ford Mustang Mach-E, 2019 Jeep Wrangler Ecodiesel, 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show

2019 Ford Mustang Mach-E, 2019 Jeep Wrangler Ecodiesel, 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show

Details of Ford's new Mustang EV crossover leaked ahead of its formal debut next week; we get some seat time with Jeep's new diesel-powered Wrangler; and we shared everything we know about the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show. It's the week in reverse, right here on Motor Authority. Ford is going all-in on its new electric crossover. We've known for some time that it would be "Mustang-inspired," but we now know it will actually carry a Mustang name. Its official name is the Mustang Mach-E. Ford is promising up to 300 miles of total range, and even the slowest variant will do 0-60 mph in the mid-5-second range; the fastest will do it in a little more than three seconds. Hyundai has been teasing us with the prospect of introducing the Santa Cruz pickup for years now, but plans never seemed to materialize. Until now, that is. Hyundai's going to sell its new pickup starting in 2021, and it's going to be built right here in the USA. Better late than never, as the saying goes. Jeep's new diesel-powered Wrangler is finally ready for prime time, and we got the chance to put it through its paces. While Chevy's new mid-engine Corvette was one of the Internet-breaking stories of 2020, there's a somber footnote to it. With the introduction of the C8 comes the end of the front-engine icon that put American sports cars on the map. The final C7 Corvette rolled off the assembly line on Thursday, marking the end of an era. Next week is the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show, heralding the start of America's annual auto show season. We're going to see new performance models from Germany's finest, prototypes from U.S. EV 4x4 hopeful Bollinger, a new range-topping Mini John Cooper Works GP model, and a new electric concept car from Volkswagen, plus plenty more.

Auto Meter instruments were partially used, along with white faces on some stock Mustang gauges. The instrument layout is custom and the brightwork surround cut from billet. Providing what little protection the interior receives, save for Concept 3's long-range enclosed trailer transport, is the cut-down '96 Cobra windshield. To shorten the glass, David scored it top and bottom, let the Phoenix sun do its thing for several hours, then smacked the top section off. The windshield frame, of course, was chopped to fit. Replicating the Mach III powertrain was in some ways easy-David's '96 Cobra starting point already boasted a Four-Valve 4.6-and there was no desire or need to exactly copy the original's intricate charge cooler and flex-fuel capability. The modern equipment David added includes a polished 1.7 Kenne Bell Twin-Screw supercharger, a K he mentioned installing HID headlights. On the other hand, if someone were to offer him a large amount of money, he'd let it go. He's already talking about building another one, this time in carbon fiber. But that's it for Concept 3s; his tooling isn't designed for more than a body or two, and with that, it seems the Mach III saga will come to a fitting end. In the meantime, a tip of our helmet to David for a magnificent accomplishment and a great blast down memory lane. Not only did the Mach III make a strong impression on the public, but it left an indelible mark on those who built it. To this day, many from the design team gather every other month to renew their Mach III association. They enjoy punting around their glory days and fallout from the Mach III builds.

So why would it not be possible for Ford to partner with EV market leader Tesla as well, for premium products, if they can come to a mutually beneficial relationship? I'm not saying it's going to happen, or that the probability is super high - but it's certainly a possibility. So, seems like this would put an end to F/Tesla partnership speculations. No, but I wish I had that much hair! But that dude was 2 days ahead of even my genius - which isn't saying a whole lot. But hats off to him if it turns out to be true. In re: fugly Ford, cada loco con su tema. I expect the truck to have airless tires or else Elon is lion about the truck being bulletproof. Bulletproof when referring to vehicles typically does not include the tires. I can't see Elon (or anyone else) giving up that much range.

2019 Ford Mustang Mach-E

2019 Ford Mustang Mach-E

Ford Motor Company has long been a leader in the automotive space. From utility-oriented pickups and genre-defining pony cars all the way to contemporary electric vehicles, the brand has bolstered its reputation since its conception over 100 years ago, thanks to a dedicated commitment to innovation. Now, they鈥檙e preparing to reimagine one of their most prolific models with the electrified Mustang Mach-E. When the first Mustang was introduced all the way back in 1964, it exemplified a new approach toward automotive culture 鈥?something that Ford has emphasized as the inspiration behind the powerful new crossover. The 2020 Mach-E is a far cry from the iconic pony car that we know and love, but its rebellion against its predecessor鈥檚 implied design is what makes it so captivating. It looks the part of a modern SUV but boasts a powerful all-wheel/rear-wheel-drive motor system that makes it faster off the line than Porsche鈥檚 lauded Macan platform 鈥?thanks, in large part, to its 332 horsepower and 417 lb.-ft. But that鈥檚 not all; the Mach-E will also arrive alongside two performance-oriented models 鈥?the GT, and GT Performance Edition 鈥?to usurp the German manufacturer鈥檚 Porsche Macan Turbo and 911 GTS with an estimated 459 horsepower and 612 lb.-ft.

Building factory cars that were overpowered street behemoths was the norm with every 1960鈥檚 American manufacturer. The 1970s was no different, and this Ford Mustang Mach 1 is living proof of the insane street performance you could roll off the lot with five decades ago. First delivered to a dealership in Medford, Oregon in autumn of 鈥?9, this pristine example was spec鈥檇 with a 351 Windsor V8 bolted to a four-speed close-ratio manual transmission, which funneled power to a Traction-Lok differential. The original owner also opted for a shaker scoop intake, power front brakes, and even an AM radio, showing there was more to this driver then just going fast. The Mustang鈥檚 subsequent owner rebuilt the engine and made various upgrades to the suspension and braking systems, additions that did not detract from the original intent of the vehicle. All this done over almost 50 years, while only racking up 69K miles on the tach and retaining the original interior.

Dearborn's fight to shed its also-ran image got a boost when the Mach 1 moved into the starting gate. Here was a Mustang that looked the part of a modern pony muscle car, and in 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet livery, it ran like one. Mustang was restyled for '69, gaining 3.8 inches of body length -- all ahead of the front wheels -- and about 140 pounds of curb weight. The flowing lines looked right in new Mach 1 livery. This was the mainstream performance version. It came standard with a 351-cid V-8, but star of the stable was the optional 428-cid Cobra Jet. 133 more bought the fresh-air induction system, which this year used a new "shaker" hood in which a scoop mounted to the air cleaner protruded through a hole in the hood and vibrated ominously with the engine. 155 Drag-Pack option was the 428 Super Cobra Jet Ram Air.

It used the shaker scoop, plus a modified crankshaft and stronger connecting rods for better high-rpm durability, as well as an engine oil cooler that decreased lubricant temperature by 30 degrees. The Drag Pack came with limited-slip 3.91:1 or 4.30:1 cogs and excluded air conditioning. All versions used a four-speed or Ford's improved SelectShift automatic. And all were underrated at 335 bhp. But the Cobra Jet's most-pertinent product was torque, enough to send the F40xl4s up in a haze of Polyglas. With 3.91:1 gearing, even the automatic broke 'em lose at each full-throttle upshift. Great for grins, bad for ETs. The root of the problem was a 59-percent-front weight bias, an imbalance that contributed to sloppy handling, as well. But this was the Mustang Ford fans had waited for -- cheaper than a Boss 429, less temperamental than a Boss 302, and a force anywhere fast cars gathered. Return to Classic Muscle Cars Library.

2019 Ford Mustang Mach-E

2019 Ford Mustang Mach-E

Ever since the original Mustang took the world by storm in 1964, it quickly came to represent the best of the American spirit: Freedom, progress, fast performance and a touch of rebellion. Now, Mustang is ready to reimagine these ideas for a powerful electric future, with space for customers' growing needs and advanced over-the-air updates that continue to improve the vehicle. Bill Ford, executive chairman, Ford Motor Company. Developed in a century-old brick building a few blocks away from Henry Ford's first factory in Detroit, Ford brought the Mustang Mach-E to life through a development process concentrated entirely on customer needs and desires. The result is a sleek, beautiful SUV that delivers spirited ride and handling, with state-of-the-art connected vehicle technology that makes Mach-E even better over time. When it arrives in late 2020, Mustang Mach-E will be available with standard and extended-range battery options with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive powered by permanent magnet motors.

Equipped with an extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive, Mach-E has a targeted EPA-estimated range of at least 300 miles. In extended-range all-wheel-drive configurations, Mach-E is targeting 332 horsepower and 417 lb.-ft. 60 mph than the base Porsche Macan series. Ford also will offer two special performance versions. The GT is targeting 0-60 mph in under 4 seconds, making it faster off the line than a Porsche Macan Turbo3. The GT Performance Edition, meanwhile, is targeting a comparable 0-60 mph in the mid-3-second range to a Porsche 911 GTS.3 Both GT configurations are targeting an estimated 342 kW (459 horsepower) and 830 Nm (612 lb.-ft.) of torque. Hau Thai-Tang, Ford's chief product development and purchasing officer. 500 reservation deposit. A limited First Edition will be available in extended-range all-wheel drive, with red painted brake calipers, metallic pedal covers, contrasting seat stitching and a scuff plate marked First Edition. In addition to blistering acceleration, Mustang Mach-E will be available with Brembo's all-new performance Flexira aluminum calipers, which maintain the functionality of a fixed caliper while being designed with the dimensions of a floating caliper.

The GT Performance Edition is equipped with a MagneRide damping system, adaptive suspension technology that lets drivers hug the road while delivering an exciting, comfortable ride. Mustang Mach-E delivers three unique drive experiences - Whisper, Engage and Unbridled - each offering finely tuned driving dynamics packaged with a distinct sensory experience. Features include custom-designed vehicle responsiveness such as sportier steering controls, ambient lighting, sounds tuned for an authentic all-electric experience, and dynamic cluster animations that are tied to driving behavior. When the vehicle launches, a new Mach-E 4 all-wheel drive system will be available that can apply torque independently to the front and rear axles to deliver impressive acceleration and improved handling over the rear-wheel drive model. Ford tuned this system to provide excellent traction on the road, rigorously testing the vehicle in wet and snowy terrain to help control for slippery conditions. Mach-E is the first production vehicle to be tuned by the Ford Performance team utilizing Ford's racing simulator in North Carolina. Ted Cannis, Ford enterprise product line director, global electrification. Making its debut in the Mach-E is the next-generation SYNC communications and entertainment system, a sleek and modern interface that uses machine learning to quickly learn drivers' preferences, and gets even better over time thanks to advanced over-the-air updates. Next-generation SYNC's 15.5-inch screen and simple interface ditches complicated menus, making it easier to access features with touch, swipe and pinch controls that every smartphone owner will be comfortable using.

As well as it guarantees to use more than the existing model. According to Automotive News, the brand-new Mustang won鈥檛 arrive till 2021. That鈥檚 a year later than Ford had actually at first guaranteed. When it does turn up, it will certainly ride on among Ford鈥檚 5 brand-new modular platforms. That means it needs to share some components with the new Traveler as well as upcoming Lincoln Aviator. Though it will certainly keep its rear-drive bias, Ford could supply an all-wheel-drive variation of the Mustang for the first time ever before. It would compete directly with automobiles like the Dodge Challenger GT. Yet the Mustang鈥檚 DNA won鈥檛 be limited to one car. The rest of the array can have horse car-inspired cues. 2022 Ford Mustang has actually currently confirmed an all-electric SUV referred to as the Mach 1, which will attract ideas from the renowned Mustang- even the brand-new Explorer shows up to adopt a much more aggressive look. The Ford Mustang Crossbreed will certainly make its debut in 2020. The amazed horse vehicle will likely be the first of its kind: an American rear-drive coupe with a crossbreed powertrain.
