SERVICE ACTION: V6 Coolant Pump Outlet Hose - Replace with Correct Specification
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE
CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation:
A concern has been identified on a number of 2004 - 2005 model year S-TYPE 3.0L vehicles within the above VIN ranges. The coolant pump outlet
hose installed on these vehicles may not be to the correct specification. This could result in the coolant pump outlet hose to burst, causing the engine
to lose coolant.
Action:
Replace the coolant pump outlet hose on the affected vehicles. Unsold vehicles must be repaired prior to hand over of the vehicle for retail sale. For
those vehicles in the hands of the customer, replace the coolant pump outlet hose at the earliest opportunity. At the time of confirming a booking for
a service interval or vehicle repair, check DDW to determine whether this Service Action affects the vehicle. DDW will be updated to show only
those vehicles affected.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
REPLACING THE COOLANT PUMP OUTLET HOSE
NOTE:
Global Technical Reference (GTR) lookup sequence is as follows:

1. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 414-01 to disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Drain the engine coolant and set aside for reuse.
4. Remove engine cover.
5. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
6. Disconnect the top hose from the link hose. (Figure 1)
7. Remove the link hose from the engine. (Figure 1)

8. Disconnect the coolant pump outlet hose from the coolant pump. (Figure 2)
9. Remove the coolant pump outlet hose from the engine.
10. Remove and set aside the two securing clips from the coolant pump outlet hose.
11. Install the two securing clips on to the new the coolant pump outlet hose,
12. Connect the coolant pump outlet hose to the engine.
13. Connect the coolant pump outlet hose to the coolant pump.
14. Release the coolant pump outlet hose spring band clip at the engine.
15. Position and fully tighten the securing clip for the coolant pump outlet hose at the engine.
16. Position and fully tighten the securing clip for the coolant pump outlet hose at the coolant pump.
17. Install and fully seat the top hose to engine link hose on the engine and release spring band clip.
18. Install the air cleaner outlet tube.

19. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 303-03A: General Procedures to fill the cooling system with the coolant set aside in step 3.
20. Install the engine cover.
21. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 414-01 to connect the negative battery cable.
