Service Action: XF Assurance Program
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:
CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation:
To ensure certain 2010 ­ 2011 model year XF vehicles are supplied to customers with the very latest software and parts to enhance the
vehicle owners experience, certain vehicles within the affected VIN range require a minor control module software updates and
replacement parts installed.
The control module updates are:
^ Front door control modules / Rear glass comfort stop ­ update to prevent rear door glass bounce
^ Car Configuration File ­ update to ensure global open feature is fully functional The issues requiring new parts or repair are:
^ Driveshaft heatshield (Supercharged only) ­ install a new heatshield to prevent heat damage to center joint diaphragm
^ Cross joint at rear windshield ­ resealed to prevent water ingress into the luggage compartment
Action:
Dealers are required to HOLD all affected vehicles in the VIN range above that are in their control and refrain from releasing the vehicles
for new or used vehicle sale pending completion of the rework action detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Affected vehicles in the hands of
owners should be repaired at the next available opportunity. At the time of customer appointment, ensure that all outstanding service
campaigns for each individual vehicle are identified and allocate sufficient time and resources to complete all campaigns.
For vehicles in dealer inventory, this Service Action should be performed in conjunction with the vehicle Pre­Delivery Inspection (PDI).
Vehicles in dealer inventory must be updated prior to customer handover.

NOTE:
Always check DDW to verify that the vehicle is affected by this Service Action prior to undertaking any repairs. Repair procedures are
under constant review and therefore times and prices are subject to change; those quoted here must be taken as guidance only.
Always refer to DDW to obtain the latest repair time.
Warranty claims should be submitted quoting Program Code 'K061', Option Code 'X', and the relevant SRO. The drive in / drive out SRO
(10.10.10) may only be claimed if the vehicle is brought back into the workshop for this action alone to be undertaken.
This Service Action is valid for a limited time only and will expire on 30 November 2012. All Warranty claims prior to this date must be
submitted for payment within 30 days of completion of the repair.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
REPLACE DRIVESHAFT HEATSHIELD ­ SUPERCHARGED ONLY
1. Refer to Workshop Manual section 100­02: Jacking and Lifting > Description and Operation > Lifting, and raise the vehicle.
2. Refer to Workshop Manual section 309­00C: Exhaust System ­ 5.0L NA V8­AJ133 / 5.0L SC V8­AJ133 > Removal and Installation >
Front Muffler, and remove the front muffler.

3. Remove the heatshield: (Figure 1)
Remove the four bolts.
4. Install the new heatshield (XR852227): (Figure 2)
^ Install the two bolts only.
^ Tighten bolts to 7Nm (5lbf ft).
5. Refer to Workshop Manual section 309­00C: Exhaust System ­ 5.0L NAV8­AJ133 / 5.0L SC V8­AJ133 > Removal and Installation >
Front Muffler, and install the front muffler.
6. Refer to Workshop Manual section 100­02: Jacking and Lifting > Description and Operation > Lifting, and lower the vehicle.
RESEAL REAR WINDSHIELD
1. Open the luggage compartment lid.
2. Release the luggage compartment lid seal. (Figure 3)

CAUTION:
Ensure the area to be sealed is clean and dry.
3. Apply Terostat 934 Henkel Product (or equivalent) suitable seam sealer to the right­hand (RH) joint. (Figure 4)
4. Repeat step 3 to the left­hand (LH) joint.
CAUTION:
Ensure the area to be sealed is clean and dry.
NOTE:
Seal over existing screen sealant under the rim of the screen, ensuring new sealant seals any holes where the panel step meets
existing sealant.
5. Apply black Sikaflex 221 (or equivalent) suitable screen sealer to the RH joint. (Figure 5)
6. Repeat step 5 to the LH seam.
7. Install the luggage compartment lid seal.
8. Close the luggage compartment lid.
UPDATE THE CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE
CAUTION:
Ensure all ignition 'ON' / ignition 'OFF' requests are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules
in the vehicle.
CAUTION:
A Jaguar­approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during IDS diagnosis / module
programming.
1. Connect the Jaguar­approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.
2. Turn ignition ON (engine not running).
NOTE:
IDS must be loaded with IDS­DVD123_V7.08 or later and Calibration File 56 or later.

3. Connect the IDS to the vehicle and begin a new Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) session.
4. Follow the on­screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle.
5. From the Session Type selection screen, choose Service Functions~.
6. Select 'Body'.
7. Select 'Continue'.
8. Select the Car configuration management ­ Current vehicle car configuration modification tool.
9. Locate the Global Open feature and tick 'Enable'. (Figure 6)
10. Follow all on­screen instructions to complete this task.
11. Select the Close Session option from the Session tab.
12. From the Session Type selection screen, choose 'Campaigns'.
13. Follow the on­screen prompts until the Recommendations tab is visible.
CAUTION:
Choose ONLY the control modules below from the SDD Campaigns list for updating.
DO NOT select any module(s) not listed below which may be displayed as this will result in damage to the vehicle.
14. From the list of recommendations, select Run for the following modules only:
^ Configure existing module > Passengers door module
^ Configure existing module > Driver's door module
15. Follow all on­screen instructions to complete this task.
16. Exit the current session.
17. Disconnect the IDS and the Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply from the vehicle.
18. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 501­11: Glass, Frames, and Mechanisms > General Procedures > Door Window Motor
Initialization, and initialize the front and rear door windows.

19. Verify Global Open and one­touch up functions.
