Service Action: Software Enhancement Program
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation:
To ensure certain 2010 ­ 2011 model year XF vehicles are equipped with the very latest software to enhance the ownership experience, a
limited number of vehicles within the affected VIN range require a number of module software updates.
These updates will result in the following changes to vehicle operation:
^ Instrument Cluster (IPK) ­ software update to eliminate a battery drain when the steering column adjustment switch is in the manual
position and the ignition is OFF.
^ Infotainment Control Module (ICM) ­ software update to reduce battery drain by reducing the time period that the Audio system may
be used with the ignition OFF from 1 hour to 10 minutes.
Action:
Dealers are required to HOLD all affected vehicles in the above VIN range that are in their control and refrain from releasing the vehicles
for new or used vehicle sale pending completion of the rework action detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Affected vehicles in the hands of
owners should be repaired at the next available opportunity. At the time of customer appointment, ensure that all outstanding service
campaigns for each individual vehicle are identified and allocate sufficient time and resources to complete all campaigns.

guidance only. Always refer to DDW to obtain the latest repair time. Check DDW to ensure that the vehicle is affected by this Service
Action prior to undertaking any rework action. At the time of confirming a booking for vehicle repair, ensure that all outstanding
Service Actions are identified to ensure the correct parts are available and adequate workshop time is allocated for repairs to be
completed at one visit.
Warranty claims must be submitted quoting Program Code K098 together with the relevant Option Code from the table. The SRO and
part information listed have been included for information only.

The Option Codes that allow for the drive in I drive out allowance can only be claimed if the vehicle is brought back into the workshop for
this action alone to be undertaken.
This Service Action is valid for a limited time only. Warranty claims with a repair date prior to the 30 September 2013 closure date must
be submitted for payment within 30 calendar days of completion of the repair.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
UPDATE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND INFOTAINMENT CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE
CAUTION:
Ensure all ignition 'ON' / ignition 'OFF' requests are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules
in the vehicle.
CAUTION:
A Jaguar­approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during diagnosis / module
programming.
1. Connect the Jaguar­approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.
NOTE:
IDS must be loaded with IDS­DVDI27_V5.02 or later and Calibration File 83 or later.
2. Connect the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) to the vehicle and begin a new Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) session.
3. Follow the on­screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle.
4. From the Session Type selection screen, choose Campaigns~.
CAUTION:
update ONLY the control modules as instructed below from the SDD Campaigns list. DO NOT select any module(s) not instructed
below which may be displayed in the SDD Campaigns list they are not applicable to this procedure and may result in damage to the
vehicle.
5. From the Recommendations tab, select Run to 'Configure the existing control module ­ Instrument Cluster control module'.

Follow all on­screen instructions to complete this task.
6. From the Recommendations tab, select 'Run' to 'Configure the existing control module ­ Infotainment control module'.

7. Exit the current session.
8. Disconnect the IDS and the Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply from the vehicle.
