REPAIR PROCEDURE

INSPECT / REPAIR LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID

1. Inspect for corrosion on the luggage compartment lid. Repair according to Jaguar Paint standards (to be claimed as a separate Warranty Claim).

2. To prevent corrosion re-occurrence, fit protective tape as follows:

^ Using suitable tape, mark the installed position of the luggage compartment lid upper trim finisher.

^ Attach a strip of tape 1.5 mm +/- 0.5 mm above the luggage compartment lid molding.

^ Attach a strip of tape 1.5 mm +/- 0.5 mm below the luggage compartment lid molding.

27

CAUTION:

Remove and refit the luggage compartment finisher carefully, ensuring the seven fixings do not damage the paint.

3. Refer Workshop Manual, section 417-01: Rear Fog Lamp, and remove both rear fog lamps.

CAUTION:

Protection film must overlap finisher top and bottom (1.5 mm) to provide the correct level of abrasion resistance to prevent future corrosion.

NOTE:

Ensure that the surface is clean and free from dust and grease.

NOTE:

Ensure that no air bubbles are trapped under the surface of the tape

NOTE:

Ensure that the upper section of clear tape extends at least 10 mm under the installed position of the fog lamps.

4. Apply protective tape:

^ Apply the clear tape to the luggage compartment lid directly below the upper alignment tape.

^ Apply the clear tape to the luggage compartment lid directly above the lower alignment tape.

^ Trim the lower strip of clear tape to match the profile of the luggage compartment lid.

5. Remove the two strips of alignment tape.

^ Wipe the surface clean.

28

NOTE:

The rubber pad service kit contains 54 buffers in sheet form. The remaining buffers should be retained for subsequent vehicles.

6. Install rubber pads:

^ Cut two of the pads from the Rubber Pad Service Kit (C2Z17715) in half.

^ Install one half pad at each outboard end.

^ Install one half pad in the centre.

^ Install two full pads to either side of the center.

7. Refer Workshop Manual, section 417-01: Rear Fog Lamp, and install both rear fog lamps.
