CONDITION SUMMARY:



PERMANENT 'HIGH SPOT' MARKING TO TIRE INBOARD SIDEWALL



Situation:



This bulletin has been issued to inform service technicians of a permanent 'high spot' mark that is located on the tire inboard sidewall to identify the



high spot for radial force variation.



Starting from the above VINs, a 'yellow' paint dot (10-13 mm in diameter) has been applied to the tire inboard sidewall. Engineering evaluation tests



have established that when mounting a wheel/tire assembly to the hub, the position of this yellow spot can influence the vehicles level of refinement.



The optimum condition is to bias the wheel on the hub spigot towards the tires yellow dot position.



Action:



When mounting a wheel/tire assembly to the vehicle hub, refer to the Repair Procedure detailed in this bulletin to ensure the optimum wheel



mounting position is achieved.

REPAIR PROCEDURE



ENSURE OPTIMUM WHEEL MOUNTING POSITION IS ACHIEVED



1. Mount the wheel to the vehicle hub, ensuring the yellow dot, located on the inboard sidewall of the tire, is positioned at the lowest attainable



position (i.e. 6 o'clock position), as illustrated in Figure 1.



2. Hand-tighten the wheel lug nuts.



3. Lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel lug nuts according to the specified torque value located in GTR Workshop Manual



section 204-04: Wheels and Tires > link to > Specifications.
