Parcel Tray 'Creak' Noise



AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:



XF (X250) VIN: *R00019* - S01055



Model Year: *2009* - 2011



CONDITION SUMMARY:



Situation:



A 'creak' noise from the rear parcel tray may be evident. This may be due to parcel tray panel flex.



Action:



In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to repair the parcel tray panel.

Refer to Workshop Manual for any required special tools

DDW requires the use of causal part numbers. Labor only claims must show the causal part number with a quantity of zero.

REPAIR PROCEDURE



REPAIR PARCEL TRAY PANEL



1. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 414-01: Battery, Mounting



and Cables, and disconnect the Battery.



2. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 501-05: Interior Trim and



Ornamentation, and remove the Parcel Tray.



3. Release the right-hand (RH) luggage compartment trim:





^ Remove the two (2) clips



4. Remove the RH grommet.

5. Remove the RH sound proofing.



6. Repeat steps 3 - 5 to the left-hand (LH) side



7. Remove the luggage compartment upper trim.





^ Remove the four (4) trim clips.



NOTE:



Ensure proper interior protection is fitted prior to



welding to prevent trim and glass damage.





8. Areas to be cleaned and welded.

NOTE:



Ensure proper interior protection is fitted prior to welding to prevent trim and glass damage.



9. Weld the area as shown.



^ Apply suitable protection to the vehicle interior and glass.



^ Remove excess paint from the weld area.



^ Weld a 15mm strip in the position shown



^ Apply suitable paint protection to the welded area and box



section.



^ Apply the process to both sides of the vehicle.



10. Install the luggage compartment upper trim.





^ Install the four (4) trim clips.



11. Install the RH sound proofing.

12. Install the RH grommet.



13. Install the RH luggage compartment trim:



^ Install the two (2) clips.



14. Repeat steps 10 - 13 to the LH side.



15. Refer to Workshop Manual, section 501-05: Interior



Trim and Ornamentation, and install the Parcel Tray.
