Electric Ford Mustang Mach-E Is Tesla Model Y Rival

The car lacks conventional door handles, instead featuring buttons that pop open the doors and small holds protruding from the front doors. Owners can use their smartphones as keys, or use a keypad built into the B-pillar. The Mustang Mach-E sports a more radical interior, with a wide dashboard featuring a Mustang 鈥榙ouble cowl鈥?and built-in soundbar. The dash is dominated by a Tesla-style vertically mounted 15.5in touchscreen with a rotary dial fixed onto it using special glue. Many of the car鈥檚 systems are controlled through the screen, which uses a new Sync 4 operating system that can accept over-the-air updates. There is also a 10.2in digital cluster for the driver, while the steering wheel retains a number of physical controls. The Mustang Mach-E sits on a new Ford EV platform called Global Electrified 2, or GE2 - an extensively reworked version of the C2 architecture used for the latest Focus and Kuga.

Gueler said designers had input into setting the platform鈥檚 dimensions, both to set the wheelbase and to enable the extended bonnet, which is long for an EV but which was considered an iconic Mustang design feature. The model will initially be launched with two battery pack sizes and three power outputs. The entry-level version will feature a single motor driving the rear wheels, with either a 75kWh battery and 254bhp motor or a 99kWh battery and 285bhp motor. Both produce 307lb ft, with a claimed 0-62mph time of under eight seconds and WLTP range of around 280 and 370 miles respectively. The twin-motor all-wheel-drive version is offered with a 75kWh battery and 254bhp, or 99kWh and 332bhp. Both versions provide 429lb ft and a sub-seven-second 0-62mph time, with estimated ranges of 260 and 335 miles. The car is 4712mm long, 1881mm wide and 1597mm high, placing it between the Jaguar I-Pace and Mercedes-Benz EQC. Claimed boot volume is 402 litres, and there鈥檚 a 100-litre waterproof front luggage bay. Ford hasn鈥檛 given a full range of performance figures yet, but Team Edison鈥檚 Dorit Haas said it was 鈥渕eant to be like a sports car鈥? She added: 鈥淭his is a performance EV. The rear-wheel-drive models will sit on 18in wheels, with 19in wheels for all-wheel-drive versions. Twin-motor machines gain adaptive LED headlights and red brake calipers, while limited-edition First Edition models also get a panoramic roof.

This 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 was manufactured on September 24, 1968 at the Ford plant in San Jose, California and sold new in the same area. The car was finished in Indian Fire Red over black knit vinyl high-back bucket seats from new and was repainted to its current red by a previous owner. Power is provided by an M-code 351ci Windsor V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor, and the factory 3-speed FMX automatic transmission was swapped for a 4-speed manual gearbox under previous ownership. The seller acquired the car approximately a year ago, and braking and cooling work was reportedly performed shortly afterward. This Mach 1 is offered with a Marti report and a clean California title in the seller鈥檚 name. 3202) from new and was repainted in its current red prior to the seller鈥檚 ownership. The black hood scoop came as part of the Mach 1 package, which also included rear window louvers, a deck lid spoiler, and an optional dealer-installed front chin spoiler.

Black and gold Mach 1 striping is worn along the sides and rear of the car, and the seller has provided detailed photos showing the optional trim and other exterior appointments. Aftermarket Magnum-style 17鈥?wheels are mounted with a set of BFGoodrich G-Force Sport tires. Black high-back vinyl seats were fitted as part of the Mach 1 trim as well as teak woodgrain paneling on the dash and door panels. A hole in the driver-side bucket seat is shown in photos, and cracks are described under the carpeted dash cover. A newer radio has replaced the factory AM unit, and aftermarket speakers are mounted in the rear side panels and bulkhead. Just over 55k miles are indicated on the 5-digit odometer. Notable issues include an inoperable horn, fuel gauge, and speedometer. The 351ci Windsor V8 has been modified with a Holley 4-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock intake manifold, Hooker headers, Flowmaster exhaust, and Mallory ignition. A 3-speed automatic FMX transmission was equipped from new, but has since been removed in favor of a 4-speed manual gearbox with a Hurst shifter. A 3.25:1 open differential is specified in the Marti report below. The car was optioned with power steering and power front disc brakes from the factory. The seller states that the coolant and engine oil were changed shortly after his acquisition last year. Additional undercarriage photos showing the condition of the driveline, exhaust, and chassis are provided in the gallery below. The standard Marti report details factory options, colors, and driveline for this car along with showing build dates and other information. Three driving videos can be viewed below.

Separate names with a comma. 鈥淐FTC has also landed orders for other components used in Model 3, with shipments to begin in October 2019, the sources said. Several months of lead time for a 100% increase in production would be justified. These components (relays) might be battery pack or power train related. This supplier increase leak too is consistent with a significant increase of Model 3 production in Q4. We do know battery packs have been the limiting factor for Model 3 production previously, at least one of the major ones. When they can produce thousands extra and ship to shanghai, they must have gotten the automation to work properly I would think.. Suddenly - the previously planned 10k model3/week isnt that far fetched after all? Speculation runs wild lately around here. Especially non-compete with Ford. Well, what EV platform will Ford use in late 2020 for the Ford Mustang Mach E?
