How to clear the P1111 code and pass the emissions test

If you own a Jaguar and you are trying to pass an emissions test, you may encounter a problem with the P1111 System Pass code. This code means that the vehicle's onboard diagnostic system has completed a full self-check of all the emissions-related components and sensors and found no faults or malfunctions. This is a good thing, as it means that your Jaguar is ready to perform the emissions test and pass it without any trouble. However, some states and regions may not recognize the P1111 code as a valid readiness indicator and may require you to clear the code before taking your Jaguar to the inspection station.

How to clear the P1111 code and pass the emissions test

The easiest way to clear the P1111 code and pass the emissions test is to use a scan tool to erase the code from the ECM memory. You can do this yourself or take your Jaguar to a mechanic who can do it for you. However, you should be aware that clearing the code will also reset all the readiness monitors and you will need to drive your Jaguar for a drive cycle or a forced readiness test to set them again.

Alternatively, you can wait for the P1111 code to clear itself automatically after a certain number of ignition cycles. The exact number of cycles may vary depending on the model and year of your Jaguar, but it is usually between 40 and 80. You can use a scan tool to check if the P1111 code is cleared and if all the readiness monitors are set.

Tips to avoid the P1111 code in the future

To prevent the P1111 code from appearing again in the future, you should check your state or region's emissions testing requirements and make sure that they accept the P1111 code as a valid readiness indicator. If they do not, you should clear the code before taking your Jaguar to an emissions test. You should also keep your ECM software updated and avoid resetting it unless instructed by a mechanic.

The P1111 code is not a problem, but it can be confusing and inconvenient if you need to pass an emissions test. By following these tips, you can clear the code and pass the test without any hassle.
