Drive Belt Noise - Repair Procedure
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE
CONDITION SUMMARY:
Situation:
A noise or chirp may be heard from Front End Auxiliary Drive (FEAD) belt or Supercharger drive belt on cold start. This may be caused by the
installed idler pulleys not controlling belt tracking correctly.
Action:
In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to:
^ Normally Aspirated (NA) vehicles: replace the FEAD belt and idler pulley with new flanged idler pulley and belt.
^ Supercharged (SC) vehicles: replace the FEAD belt and idler pulley with new flanged idler pulley and belt; and / or replace supercharger idler
pulley with new grooved idler pulley, tensioner, pulley bracket, and drive belt.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
REPLACE FRONT END ACCESSORY DRIVE AND / OR SUPERCHARGER DRIVE BELT SYSTEM
NOTE:
Global Technical Reference (GTR) lookup sequence is as follows: GTR Home > NAS > Model > Service Information > Model Year > Workshop
Manuals > 3: Powertrain > 303: Engine > 303-05 / 303-05A: Accessory Drive - 4.2L
1. If Normally Aspirated, refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 303-05 / 303-05A (12.93.06) and install a new flanged idler pulley (C2C 37064)
and FEAD belt (C2C 37063).
2. If Supercharged, identify if the Front End Auxiliary Drive or Supercharger drive system is making the noise.
^ If FEAD system is noisy, refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 303-05 / 303-05A (12.93.06) and install a new flanged idler pulley (C2C
37064) and FEAD belt (C2C 37063).
^ If Supercharger drive system is noisy, refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 303-05 / 303-05A (18.91.38) and install a new grooved idler
pulley (C2S 46862), tensioner (C2C 37057), pulley bracket (C2C 37056), and drive belt (C2C 37055).
