CONDITION SUMMARY:



Situation:



The engine Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may be illuminated with Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0411 stored in the Engine Control



Module and no restricted performance experienced. The DTC is able to be cleared, but no root cause is likely to be identified. This may be caused



by the calibration indicating an error with pump pressure or check valve operation where none exists.



CAUTION:



If DTC P0411 is present after performing the Repair Procedure outlined below, the ECM diagnosis of this fault is correct and must be



investigated further.



NOTE:



If the vehicle has previously had an ECM software update as part of the Repair Process outlined in Technical Bulletins JTB00179 or K050 and



DTC P0411 is present with no fault found, update the ECM software as per the Repair Procedure outlined below.



Action:



In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to update the ECM software.

REPAIR PROCEDURE



UPDATE THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE



CAUTION:



A Jaguar-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during diagnosis / module programming.



CAUTION:



Ensure all ignition 'ON' / ignition 'OFF' requests are carried out; failure to perform these steps may cause damage to control modules in the



vehicle.



1. Connect the Jaguar-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.



* NOTE:



IDS must be loaded with IDS-DVD121_V6.06 or later and Calibration File 35 or later.*



2. Connect the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) to the vehicle and begin a new Symptom Driven Diagnostics (SDD) session.



3. Follow the on-screen prompts, allowing SDD to read the VIN and identify the vehicle.



4. Select Diagnosis from the Session Type selection screen.



5. Select the Selected Symptoms tab, and then select:



^ Electrical > Instruments > Warning Lamps > Engine Malfunction Lamp > Lamp illuminated



6. Select 'continue'.



7. Select the 'Recommendations' tab.



8. From the Recommendations tab, select Run to configure the 'Powertrain control module'



^ Follow all on-screen instructions to complete this task.



9. Exit the current session.
