High Level Display Front Screen Lock-up



AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE



CONDITION SUMMARY:



Situation:



The High Level Display Front (HLDF) may experience one or more of the following faults:



^ HLDF screen lock-up with message Emergency OS please re-load software displayed



^ HLDF permanently displays Jaguar "Leaper"



^ HLDF screen is black or blank.



Software corruption caused by one of the following may lead to the above faults:



^ The vehicle power supply interrupted or disconnected



^ Vehicle power dropped below 12.5 volts during an Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) software download



^ IDS disconnected or shut down during a software download



NOTE:



Perform the HLDF update only if any of the above concerns are evident. Refer to Workshop Manual Section 415-00 Diagnosis and Testing for



further assistance in diagnosing Information and Entertainment System issues.



Action:



In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to reconfigure the front control I display interface



module.

REPAIR PROCEDURE



RECONFIGURE THE FRONT CONTROL / DISPLAY INTERFACE MODULE



CAUTION:



A Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply must be connected to the vehicle battery during diagnosis / module programming.



1. Connect a Jaguar-approved Midtronics Vehicle Power Supply to the vehicle battery.



NOTE:



IDS must be loaded with software release DVD117 Patch File 3 or later.



2. Connect the IDS to the vehicle and begin a new diagnostic session by entering the correct VIN for the current vehicle.



3. Follow the IDS prompts to read the vehicle configuration.



4. Select No when prompted Do you wish to read diagnostic trouble codes?



5. Select tick to continue.



6. Select the Vehicle Configuration tab when Content Model is displayed.



7. From the Vehicle Configuration menu, configure the "Front Control / display interface module" by selecting from the drop-down menu:



NOTE:



IDS displays that the download will complete in approximately 5.5 hours; this should be ignored. Actual download time is approximately 2.5 hours.



^ "Module programming" -> "Configure existing module" -> "Front Control / display interface module"



8. Select tick to continue, following all on-screen instructions to complete this task.



^ IDS will return to the Vehicle Configuration menu when completed.



9. Exit the current session.



10. Disconnect IDS and the Midtronics PSC-550 Vehicle Power Supply from the vehicle.
