Roof Console Lights that do not Operate as Expected - Repair Procedure



AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:



XF (X250) VIN: R00001 - R49197



Model Year: 2009 - 2010



CONDITION SUMMARY:



Situation:



The roof / overhead console lights may not operate as expected. This may be caused by oxidation of the electrical contacts within the roof console.



Action:



In the event of a customer concern of the above, refer to the Repair Procedure outlined below to clean and grease the roof console lamp electrical



contacts.

REPAIR PROCEDURE



CLEAN / GREASE ROOF CONSOLE LAMP CONTACTS



NOTE:

Workshop Manuals > 5: Body and Paint > 501-12: Instrument Panel and Console



1. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 501-12: Instrument Panel and Console and remove the roof / overhead console.



2. Release connection for microphone.



3. Remove the retaining cover. (Figure 1)



^ Release the six clips.



CAUTION: take care to not damage electrical harness.

4. Disconnect the printed circuit board. (Figure 2)



5. Using the wipe cleaner (C2C 33548), clean the six electrical contacts. (Figure 3)



6. Using the grease syringe (JLM 21802), apply 2-3mm of grease to each electrical contact. (Figure 4)



7. Connect the printed circuit board.



8. Install the retaining cover.



9. Connect the microphone.



10. Refer to Workshop Manual (GTR) section 501-12: Instrument Panel and Console and install the roof / overhead console.
